Ants. I want to destroy them. Not usually so angry at ants but...

Every day this week (I know, its only Tuesday), Norah has stepped in an anthill in our backyard. I guess they are fire ants because they swarm out and attack. She has big bee-sting size bites all over her legs. One made it to her bum before I could get to my screaming child.

So, smart joyeous gardener mamas--what is a safe product to use to evict these vicious little guys? I have a dog and a wee one.

This one is completely safe, but you need to do it when there's another adult present to make sure no little ones get underfoot. Sprinkle the area with cayenne pepper. You can skip it if you don't have any, though. Then, pour a huge pot of boiling water onto the hill. It won't kill the whole colony, but the survivors will relocate. If they relocate on your property, repeat.
