At the risk of sounding high-maintenance...should I throw away lettuce that had a very small worm on it? I have never found produce with worms on it before...and a few days ago I found a tiny green worm crawling on my cauliflower :sick (which I threw out :O ) , and then my mom found a little transparent worm in her lettuce while she was eating it! :sick :sick I have found flies in lettuce and consider this normal...but worms? :sick :sick :sick
Do I throw it away, or just wash it well and use it? :shifty

:grin Wash it. Think for a minute of how lettuce is grown - in soil, outside, with lots and lots of different kinds of bugs. Dirt and fertilizer get up between the leaves even. Many many a bug has visited your lettuce before it came home. Some to eat other bugs, and some to sample the lettuce. Wash it off, and enjoy!

I like finding bugs in my produce. It means it's fresh from the ground. :)

Wash and enjoy!
