I have a friend who is struggling with PPD and she's just now telling anyone about it. Her youngest is 15 months old and she said she figured it would pass by now but its starting to scare her. She doesn't want to use medication though. Does anyone have any suggestions on what herbs or supplements might help PPD?

Thanks!

Nici - have you done a GCM search on the topic yet? Try hitting the magnifying glass on the top right and it will take you to the advanced GCM search.

How about a good quality of fish oil? I don't the effective dosages but I've heard that it can work wonders.

Is she getting some time to herself away from the mayhem? Perhaps if she had a weekly or every other nightly (or whenever) date with her self, even after the baby goes to sleep, even if its just for a walk she'd feel better?

Thanks for the links to the other threads! She's definitely not getting a break and she's prone to depression and panic attacks so that doesn't help. But she really doesn't have an option to take a break right now. Her husband is a coach for just about every sport so he's gone for games and practice almost every night. Even though its summer he still hasn't had a day off. :( And since he's just a teacher and a coach, funds are not just overflowing so she definitely couldn't pay for a break. Hopefully I can find something she can take to help with some of her problems! Thanks again!

Could she afford a mother's helper rather than a full babysiter? Maybe a younger teen who isn't ready to babysit on her or his own but would welcome the experience? Sometimes evern a shower or nap can help!
