A very neat idea!!

If you are a homeowner, you might give this idea a thought:
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/14350424/

It is about how eager Film producers are for homes to shoot in anything from comercials, ads, and even movies!!
I just saw a show on TV all about it and then found those links.
Altho the 1 above link talks about a movie actually filmed IN your home......that tho is rare......rarely are the ideal homes found near where the stars and movie itself is being filmed and also rare is it a home is both large enough and ideal enough to be used for the whole movie and have famous people act in it.
It ofcource does happen tho.

But photographers coming and snapping shots of your home are usually all that is done, then digitally they add stuff back in hollywood and/or recreate your house as a set in a actors studio.

Sometimes it is just your yard, your street, 1 bedroom, your porch, only the inside, or only the outside of your home that they like and film.
It could just be for a short quick scene.......or a long running series!

Thats up to you.

Almost any home any where could be picked.
It matters little what your interior and furniture look like, they will change and redo what they need to.......with your consent.

You never know what a movie is looking for.

The great thing is you get paid A LOT, they will likely landscape, remodel, paint, and furnish your home and if needed set you all up in very nice hotels!
Best of all.....your home, street, even your whole town could be forever famous and reap finacial benefits for a very long time!!!

The last link on here gives you links for more "how to".

wanted to add 2 more bits.

consider this even if you live outside of the USA too.
Not only because Hollywood might shoot someday in your country and need a authentically located there home, BUT also because film companies and ad companies IN your country might love your home!
People in Europe often put up homes for filming because if chosen then the filmers will re-do, remodel, and restore a home as well as go to great lengths to match it to it's Period.

This can be true for USA homes too.

Many have benefitted from buying a old Victiorian home, or Southern plantation style home, or a 1950's home........and producers completely matched it to it's period and brought in authentic appliances, wall papering etc.
Homes shot in Wonder Years and Back to the Future got this desired makeover!!

And another great idea is if you spot some pretty old home that really needs some TLC or is falling apart or abadoned.....submit it!
Good if the home is not in a crime spot.
These type homes either get fully restored, or make it into such movies as Adams Family, or period peices or horror flicks.
I am going to try and do that for an abandoned huge home in Seward, it used to be an orphanage but was abandoned decades ago. There is an Org that owns it and has tried to fund restoring it for a long time........considering a producer will pay anywhere from $200 to $22,000.......A DAY to film at/in a home then I'd say that'd fund them well!! lol

I really loved the Groundhog Day story best of all from this show, had to share it.

The Bill Murray movie Groundhog Day, remember it?

The sweet Inn that his role stayed in.......funny story.......it was a run down old Victorian home that a young single lady had bought just 4mos prior.
She could barely even live in it due to leaky roofs n such.
Her hope was to save up $$ every year and work on it every summer or so.

Then......the film lookouts came knocking.

From the outside that "Inn" was very nice.
But what the producer really loved was the view out of that big bay window "room" it was of that infamous street that Bill looked out at every morning hoping it had changed, in the movie.

The owner was more than happy to hand the keys over.........and they got to work COMPLETELY fixing the entire house, paint, wall paper, new appliances......the works!
They did landscaping out front, redid the paint and roof etc.
She got gorgeous hardwood floors and brand new bathrooms!

And long after the movie was on video......her home is still famous and still Groundhog Day gorgeous. People come to see it and pay her!!

But best of all.....the movie made the whole small town.....famous!!
Tourists love coming there to eat in that restraunt he ate at in the movie and see the bell tower and such......
Buisnesses have flourished, propety values soured, the town has grown.........all thanx to her house starting it all!! A house that had been a falling apart 'money pit" no one would buy........got into a movie and saved the whole tiny town!!

Whats really funny is people love coming to that town ON Groundhog Day!
But it is in Wisconsin!!!

The actual Pocksitony PA (how do you spell that??) where the groundhog is seen has tried to remodel it's town to LOOK like the Groundhog Day movie sugested it looks! People show up there upset it looks different!!

How funny!!

A great story of everyone benefitting from just 1 famous house!! lol
