Burgundy carpet and paint color...(finished pics added!!)

Opinions please!

I want to paint my dining room this weekend...we have a burgundy carpet in the living room and dining room....the living room is painted chocolate brown and is a very warm room. In the dining room I have robin's egg blue curtains and it looks really pretty so I am thinking a cooler color in the dining room might off set the warm living room nicely. I'm not sure what color to paint though that would go with burgundy carpet. Any thoughts? :think

I think I'd go for something neutral. They say taupe is very soothing. ;)

My favorite house color paint (inside) is Cookie Crumb (from Home Depot). It is a nice dark neutral & it looks really good, but I am not sure how it would work with dark carpets. This is the color up against a very red bathroom we have.

I am thinking of getting a sunny translucent yellow. :think

that sounds pretty! I love yellow, so bright & cheerful! (which would probably be very good with the dark carpet!)

hmmm... i'm not sure about yellow, personally.... my friend has a yellowish and burgundy room, and it looks a little catsup and mustard for my taste. :duck


i would probably do a darker neutral (i do like that cookie crumb, maybe a little lighter) and i might do a chair rail type thing - the neutral on top and a few shades lighter than the carpet burgundy on the bottom to tie it in.

that green doesn't look bad, either... it would be a totally different feel. :think

I think I'd do more of a cream than a yellow. :think We have one in our kitchen that's about the color of sugar cookies. That would look good. :)

Thanks!! :) I was blessed with that wicker seat, the rug, and the lamp on Saturday from my gmom (who is moving) and my mom (who got that rug at a yard sale) so it really pulled the look together I think. I love having that seat there and it looks out over the backyard so I can watch the kids from it. :)
