Bleach & chlorine on citrus fruit

I learned that Citrus fruit is washed in a bath of bleach and chlorine to kill the mold. Is this true even in Organic growing? I wanted to make some lemon squares but the idea of eating bleach lemon zest is kind of icky.

Because a number of pesticides come from the rain, I would go ahead and do it. Good job taking care of your family

I guess that makes sense. I think I had to take a couple days to get over 'bleach lemons' as I started calling them. :giggle I'm not a weirdo.

Growing up overseas, where produce was grown in raw manure and sometimes human feces (isn't that appetizing) we had to soak all of our produce in a diluted bleach bath for an hour, then rinse well a thousand times over.
