Anyone want to join me? My closet is is so stuffed with all clothes/shoes/bags and whatnot for the whole family. The past few months, I've fallen so far behind on laundry and basically you can't even walk into our walk-in closet anymore. :( :blush It really bothers me and I want to make it nicer for all of us (as well as teach ds how to take care of our blessings in a better way).

I'm going to be brave and post some really embarrasing before pics, then give a ONE WEEK time limit for getting closets in order. So if your master/main clothes closet has been a thorn in your side lately, please join me!

Pics on the way....please don't make me do this alone, mamas! :shifty :giggle

Can I pretend that I did not see this thread? We just moved a month ago and we are still settling...well,my side of the closet is where things that have no home land. I planned to work on it this week though....I better get moving!

*deep breath*

Okay mamas, here's my closet in all it's glory! Anyone who knows me IRL knows what a neat-freak I was before having two kidlets... :giggle :jawdrop :bag

I'll join you.

We dont't have a walk-in (I can only wish) but my closet really could use some organizing and decluttering.

Thank you, mama!!!! :hug

Anyone else going to join us? Just think, we'll be here to encourage you and appreciate your hard work, and by this time next week, your closet will be a pleasure instead of a burden! :grin

I'm about to get started with Step One this morning: Get the dirty laundry out! I can do this, I can do this!!!! :walk :pray :giggle

My closet is smaller, and it doesn't look *as* messy because most of my dirty laundry is in the laundry room ( I trample on it all to get to the machine to wash what we *need* at the time :blush ) and also our clean laundry is in scattered locations throughout the house. :blush If we had a closet THAT big with everyone's clothes in it, it would be a DISASTER. :yes2
I'll be brave and take pics of mine later today (If I can get The Littles off my back for 5 minutes :giggle )

I know you've lost a lot of weight, Kym, but a lot of those clothes look awful small for you ;)

I'm in!

:laughtears Sara!! :grin

Thanks for joining me, mamas! Here's my progress as of tonight...it was great to see the floor again, but half the stuff migrated to the bathroom for sorting. I can't wait for it all to be in place and organized already! :phew

That stripey purse is so cute!! We love that exersaucer, btw. Well, Sophia loves it. I suppose I'd love it, too, if I fit. But anyway, she loves it. And you're right (remember you told me?) more toys is a SUPER bonus. I add toys to ours. Next time, I'm getting TOY CITY!

Progress is GOOD!

Hey, I'll join. My closet is actually in decent order b/c dh keeps his mess (er...clothes...most of them) downstairs, but there's quite a bit in there I haven't looked at since we moved in, and I'd like to sort through some clothes, too.

:O I took before pics, but have been working more on things downstairs. I haven't felt well the past few days either, so I don't know when I'll actually tackle the job. :blush
What if I called my whole house the "master closet", LOL. Does that count? :laughtears

i didn't know there was a challenge, but my master closets got an overhaul last week... i still need to upload 'after' pictures, but this is what they looked like 'before':

dh's closet
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/mamamolly/house%20pics/IMG_0043_2.jpg

:blush it was actually a lot messier than the pictures show... it's just really small and hard to get good pics. anyway, i'll post after pics when i can!

I'm still intending to do this. I just have hard time because my time to do real cleaning is when dd is sleeping. But she sleeps in our room so I can't even get in there when she's sleeping. *sigh*

But I'm still in this...

dh's
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v245/mamamolly/home%20integration/IMG_0213.jpg

i weeded out things that don't fit me/i don't wear anymore. all my off season stuff (like sweaters and such) came off the hangers and are folded on top of the shelf. all my exercise stuff is together on those bottom two shelves so that i have everything in one place when (if! :blush ) i feel the urge to exercise. :) all my lingerie is in the basket on the top left shelf. you can't see very well, but all my purses and bags are in a basket on the floor. most of my shirts/pants are hanging to the right. when i take something off a hanger, the hanger right away goes to the space on the bottom right - altogether and ready for hanging clean stuff. :tu

we are storing king size sheets in dh's closet, in the spirit of keeping things where we use them. it's working nicely so far!

can i just say, having the closets done makes getting ready SO much easier? wow!

Well, I haven't done anything. :shifty But I took some "before" pics. Not *awful* (there's lots worse places in my house) but lots of culling and tidying I cut do.

Ok, I switched it to the closet in the kids' room, is that okay? I'm just having a really hard time getting to the one in my bedroom because dd sleeps there.

So I worked on it today. Not done yet but getting there...

ok, so like I said, our closet is our computer nook. The top shelf houses pictures, stationary, a few techie things and folders of research. We also keep our records in a wall mounted file folder thing. needless to say, there ended up just being piles of junk in all areas of our "nook" it was terrible!! I forgot to take pictures of it before I started, but here's one after I basically pulled everything out and piled it on the floor.

http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e394/marsupialmayhem/closetbefore.jpg

Yeah, that was all in one teeeeennyy tiiinnnnnyyyyyy closet. Yup! I ended up throwing out two huge bags of JJUUNNKKK (and a few things DH wont miss!) and this is the outcome:

ok, meghan, your before looks like my after, girl... :poke :lol

wow, andrea!!! wooo! :rockon

kym, thank you! :O honestly, doing all the backed up laundry took the very longest, and actually my friend helped me finish that before tackling the closet. so you're right on track! :tu and my closet inspired me to 'finish' our master bedroom.. (in quotations because we still need a few things, like end tables). :)

Does your friend want another vacation at my house?

:lol i think she would giggle at the thought that it was called a vacation... :giggle (she worked me HARD! but i still love her and our friendship survived! :heart ) she's amazing, though, and truly worth every penny. :mrgreen (maybe dh needs a really awesome mother's day idea? like, i mothers gift for the next several years? :shifty )

Meghan, where did you get your shelving that you use for your shoes? i need to find something similar to that!

:think I honestly can't remember...my mom bought it for me when I was in college so I've had it for years. Maybe Target or WMT or something? It comes in a kit and those are two kits stacked on top of each other. :yes I like it b/c I limit myself to that number of shoes. If I get a pair, a pair has to go. :tu
