View Full Version : need some Excel help... anyone, anyone, Buler?
I've got this massive spreadsheet for our new budget. It's all set up except...
At the bottom of each page I have a running "tally/total" of the deposits/withdrawls for each category (ie annual$, mortgage, van, beauty, etc).
I'd like to get a page at the end called "running balance" and take the calculated balance from each individual worksheet and put it on the running balance sheet so I can get a good idea of what we have "on hold" at any given moment.
Does that make sense?
So... how do I take a calculated cell from worksheet X and see the running balance on worksheet Y?
Anyone? :) I'd be MUCH appreciative... I'm going to try to figure it out (but so far I haven't been able to).

You go to the end sheet and take the Auto Sum Button into account for that cell so that there is a formula for that cell... then highlight EACH cell, that you want or manually input them in, your formula is going to look like this.....
on sheet 4 for example..... =SUM(Sheet3!B323+Sheet2!B323+Sheet1!B323) your answer will show up on sheet 4 the cummination of all the sheets....

neat! :rockon
:think I can't get it to work.
Will it work if the number I want to appear IS from a formula? When I do the =SUM(cellfromotherpage) it gives me $0.00.
Anymore advice? :) I appreciate it!!

totally off-topic, as my Excel experience is limited to only what I use for work :O . . . but I'm laughing my head off, because I say the same thing: anyone, anyone, Buler? :laughtears
Okay, back to the real post . . . .
Oh, it's been a while since I've done this. I know what you want to do be doing...but being a visual learner...I have to see what I'm doing. Let me play around with the formula and I'll be back later to post.
Cool!! Thanks, Kasi!

Yes it will take a number that is a part of another formula, because, mine are parts of other running totals....

no help for you but :haha Love the reference.
Lyssa tried to help me via MSN Messanger last night. I haven't tried it again yet.
I'll take any tips/advice. :)
Angela, email your file to me....I can take a look and see if I can get it to work using your existing workbook. I've played around, but I don't have a good workbook to work from and give you good instructions. PM me for my email addy if it's not in my profile.
