resources/books to learn about gardening

I thought about posting this in the homeschooling/unschooling forum, but figured this would be a more appropriate place ;)

My sister (7th grade) wants to learn about gardening. She'll read and plan out her garden this fall/winter, and when the time rolls around in spring she'll plant :tu I'm not sure what she plans to grow, but most likely vegetables and possibly a simple flower garden.

I've already bookmarked http://www.windowbox.com/ and http://www.yougrowgirl.com/, they're great :rockon I'm just looking for any other links or book recommendations for a beginner :grin

My favourite site is Organic Gardening (http://www.organicgardening.com). The magazine is fantastic and I have learned so much. They also have helpful forums there, click on "discuss."
