Another computer ?

I just bought Quickbooks and found out I can't install on my computer because I have windows 98. I thought I have 2000. Anyway a few weeks ago I heard on the news Microsoft was coming out with another update to the operating system. Does anyone know when this will happen? I don't want to get another operating system when I will just have to upgrade again in a few months.

Its MS Vista and last I heard it was going to be available for consumers in January, I think. For businesses, I think its November of this year.
