If I got a blog, would I be able to see who exactly is reading it?

I know I could get a counter and count the number of visitors, but could I also tell who was visiting in addition to how many?

I also know about footprints at Xanga, but could I tell if someone who wasn't from Xanga was reading my blog? Would I be able to tell who they were? What about at Blogger? Do they have that "footprints" thing?
