DVD problems -- not sure where to put this!

We've got a DVD player that is only 4 years old that has suddenly become progressively unusable -- it reads and reads and reads every DVD we place into it, but never moves on!

Any ideas?

Gosh, we hate to spend more money on this right now. We have a plumbing problem that will cost us at least $2500 and our washer just died and the repairman told us to just replace it because it was more than that to fix. YIKES on everything.

My ultimate inquest is for DVD player information from those of you who have them.

Can any of you help?

You might need to clean the lens. Buy a CD/DVD cleaning disc. They were $10 or so last time I bought one. They last for a really long time. Even if it just says "CD cleaning disc" it will still work on the DVD.

You could also try blowing canned air into the player (about $5 a can).

Sounds like it needs to be cleaned. They are supposed to be cleaned every 8hrs of play or something like that. :scratch My hubby is the electronic genius in my family.
