Okay, my first attempt at kombucha is growing in my cupboards on day 4. I'm in Tx so I heard I should let it grow for 4-6 days as it is warmer and humid here. Okay so I just looked at it and my "baby" has grown a little and it hasn't really formed another obvious baby, just the whole surface has skimmy scummy thick stuff. I pushed it aside and tasted the liquid. It was fizzy and not as sweet as stuff I've tasted before but kinda good. So is this normal?? I wish I could find a website with pics but maybe no one would make this stuff if they knew what it would look like :laughtears!!

yup...I let mine brew for 12-14 days...or longer if I am lazy...lol We are in a cooler enviroment than Texas though..but sounds totally normal.
