Seeds or Starts?

This is my first year planting a garden. Will I get better results with seeds or starts? Am I too late for seeds? I am so in the dark! I want to go buy something to plant this weekend, but I don't know which to do :O

It depends on the plant, your planting zone, etc. I have planted potatoes and peas (well, my dad did, lol!) and I'm planning to put broccoli and lettuce from seeds. Call your county extension agent (or type your county and "extension agent" in google) and find your "zone" and "last average frost" date...sometimes you can't plant seeds until after that, or the package will say "2 weeks before last average frost" or whatnot. You can start tomatoes or a lot of other things inside, if you have the set-up, but I just buy starts. Usually when they start selling them in your area it's ok to put them in the ground. :)

Like others have said, you need to know your growing season, for some, it is still early to plant, others just right. I think unless you have a really long season, it is best to start inside, and then transplant. It is more expensive to buy started plants rather than seeds, but starters are better than nothing, and if you need to, just get some info and buy seeds to be ready for next year.
