Ok, I need some help designing my garden! We just moved here over the summer and with spring just around the corner I'm anxious to get started! :jump

Here are some pics so you can get an idea of what I'm working with. I'd LOVE to have an english garden type of thing going on, but I am clueless!!

Here's the front of the house :

Here's a pic of the "flower bed" that's under the windows. There's only some hosta in there and it's pretty big.

Here's a pic of an area in front of the porch. There's some sort of ground cover and some nasty bushes in it.

And finally, here's a pic of a little group of trees in the front yard that has a rock border around it. There's daylilies in it now, they just haven't bloomed.

So any suggestions of what to plant would be great! :tu I'd also like to put an arbor somewhere... :think And I'd like to put roses somewhere also. I was thinking maybe that area in front of the porch. What do you think? TIA!

I'm not a great gardener, but I've found these garden plans from Better Homes and Gardens helpful for providing ideas.

I love hyacinths! They're pretty and so fragrant so that would be a good choice to put near your door so you can smell them coming and going. :grin I don't know if they're "english gardeny" though.
