In late November I bought a couple of bulb "kits" from Target, one of paperwhites and the other hyacinths, so I could have some potted bulbs during gloomy January/February. Last week Julius and I planted the paperwhites and they already have shoots 3-4" inches tall. :) They should bloom in a couple of weeks. They hyacinth bulbs were supposed to be chilled for 8 weeks, so I put them in the refrigerator right after we bought them and they should be ready to plant in another week or so. The "kits" come with compressed potting medium, a plastic pot and bulbs. You just add water to the potting medium and fluff it up, put it in the pot with the bulbs. I can't wait for my mid-winter blooms!!
