I am ISO a playdress pattern -- anyone know of a good one? I love simple playdresses ala hanna, LE and LL Bean and I'm hoping to make something similar. Free or for sale, it doesn't matter!

KwikSew has some great books with lots of very basic patterns that I use all the time. :)

I have this: http://www.sewbaby.com/big/patterns1_/patterns_11.html
But I really use Kwik Sew -- either a shirt pattern cut short with a rectangle gathered on for a skirt, or my current favorite, which is modified from the raglan shirt pattern by adding a couple inches extra width in the middle of both the front and the back (scientifically achieved by using the space it gives you for a placket, which has No Relationship but was easier than thinking about it), and then swinging the edges out until the resulting width at the bottom is the same as a Hanna playdress. I make an inverse box pleat with the width in front and back, sewing it down a few inches in the front and tacking at in back at the waist. I use a trim assortment from SewBaby for ribbing at the neck and sleeves. Net result, 4 pattern pieces, 7 seams, 1 hem, and the two tacks for the pleats, easy and cute. I particularly like it in flannel. It doesn't look like the knit playdresses, but it has the same sort of "feel" -- feminine but not fussy.

I've used this one. Found it ran a little big in the dress but small in the bloomers. It sewed quickly, but it can be hard get it "untangled" to put on a coat hanger or for a girl to dress herself because of the way the straps cris-cross. But I did love the dress itself, on her... it was just cute.
