Wow....inspiration! :D I would like to knit stockings for my kids eventaully. I love some of the special Christmas yarns that come out this time of year. Maybe if they have any left in an after Christmas sale.... :scarf

Working on my 4th of 5 stockings. This one is the polkadot pattern you posted. Its orange centers, red rings and pink outer ring. She picked the colors.
I made 2 striped stockings. One was mint green and cream. The other was a really bright varigated thread for the main color with bright blue stripes. Then, I made a very Victorian stocking for dd#2 in light purple and cream.
After the current one, ds#1 picked a red stocking with green heal and toe, a cream cuff and holly crocheted into the cuff.
I let each child pick their pattern and their colors. What they don't know (and why the last 2 stockings are going to take more than a day each) is that I'm crocheting hats from the extra yarn to help fill the stockings for Christmas morning. But, I can only do that work when the kids are in bed each night, so its slower going.
