HI all, I'm new to these message boards, and just discovered the hobby board!

I make jewelry.....mostly wire and metal using gemstones and lampwork beads.... I have a blog here (haven't updated in a while):

http://doxallodesigns.blogspot.com

Anyone else make jewelry?

I also play with photography but have put that on hold due to time constraints. My photo blog is here, but there are only a few photos:

anyone into photography?

I make jewelry, mostly for gifts. Very fun, especially since we have some great bead stores locally to get beads at wholesale prices.

Hi Lenswyf!

I began making just to have a creative outlet.....gave some away, kept some...I am JUST now beginning to sell having set up my website. What bead stores are you using? And what kind of jewelry do you make?

Janice! I just looked at your blogs. Love the jewelry, especially, but your photography is lovely as well.

I love to work with semi-precious stones. I am always amazed at the beauty God instilled in rocks. They truly do proclaim his glory! Right now, my new favorite is Ocean Jasper -- such variety of color and form!

The single moms forum is waiting for you, sweetie. Once you have 75 posts, you can apply for access. I'm so grateful for that little corner. There are some amazing single moms here at GCM. (I was a single mom for 10 years, and remarried 7 years ago, much to my amazement.)

But listen... you wanna come over and play? I don't live all that far from you. We could go to the bead store. :D Of course, maybe you already shop there... Accents Beads?

Ohhh, thank you!!!!!

I've been to Accents Beads once in person - but shop them online periodically. A get together would be great! I probably won't be purchasing any 'me' items until well after the holidays and things are hectic until then, but I would truly love to get together maybe after the first of the year. :clap

Photographing jewelry is quite an art in itself......there are light issues since you get so much reflection from the stones and silver....but I have been blessed to receive some wonderful advice from many talented jewelry artists on the net. They have been more than gracious with their expertise!

I too am in awe of what God has instilled in His creation......so many things that we don't realize. Its amazing to me to see the uncut rough rock and how dull it is until someone sees the beauty within and opens it up...and there's this little surpise waiting. Sometimes I wonder if God delights in our discoveries.

I have long felt that I will never marry again.....but I DO know that God does amazing and unexpected things. I am certainly not looking - my hands are so full I can't imagine someone else coming into the picture - but then I hear comments like yours and I am reminded that God has plans for me - I may not know what they all are....but I am committed to going where He leads.

I look forward to joining you at some point in the near future on the single mamas board...

Hi, Janice! I make jewelry too! I've just started wire work, and I've been selling a little (I'm just not a very good salesperson). I was looking at your site. . . .me thinks I 'know' you from another web group? You 'look' very familiar!

I mkae beaded jewellery, just simple stringing of things together, and I make charm bracelets too. :-) I sadly lost all my photos a while back though so I don't have any pictures to show you. Most of my beads come from recycling charity shop finds, a local bead store, and little craft packs from the haberdasher that are really too expensive for what they are. I make jewellery mainly to give me an excuse to buy beads - I am a total magpie. ;)

Your photos are beautiful. :heart

Thank you. :)

Working with found objects and beads can be a really neat way to go if you aren't prepared to buy a whole lot - and shop SALES!! lol. I saw a bracelet not to long ago made with cut up strips of credit cards and charms...it was neat. And check this out - http://www.jewelrybyjessica.com/ she uses a shrinky dinnk material.....and her work is VERY pretty (I think). You never know where you might find the right 'thing' to use as beads or charms....

I got them off of ebay... quality is usually indicated by price, but I found some rather inexpensive ones from a studio that seems to be mass producing them (I didn't want to start with expensive ones). I'd LOVE to make them, but I have no time for that now. I look for attractive beads that have been properly kiln annealed (lol, I've bought one set so far... I need to learn to make jewelry with them... )

I get almost all of mine off eBay. :) I'm thinking one day I might like to learn - but it won't be anytime soon!
