Does anyone have any bread machine recommendations? Which have you tried, which do you want, whose do you find yourself jealous of when you go to their house and why...? ;-)

I am a beginner and want one for Christmas!

Thanks!

I used to have this wonderful one, but it broke :hissyfit Now we have a Toastmaster Breadbox (TBR2), and it is good, but I still liked my old one better. Its taken a little time to adjust to the Toastmaster. I've learned that I have to use the 2lb setting, otherwise the top of my bread falls :shrug The dough cycle is great though, and I use that the most often...

I'm making up my "regular" loaf right now in there. Our weekly bread is sourdough. I have a starter that I keep in the fridge and "feed" each week, and I make my loaf on Monday and then another one later in the week if we need it.

I'm pretty sure that my old one was a Breadman. May it rest in peace...

Mine's an Oster. I don't have an opinion on it, though. We use it to make the dough and then bake the bread in the oven (it turns out better!).

I like my Zojirushi breadmaker. It makes a loaf that is a real loaf shape, and has 2 paddles, unlike many models. It has a setting for jam. It is programable. It is supposed to be strong enough to effectively knead whole grains. On most of the settings you can select light, medium, or dark crust. It is not as loud or shakey as other bread machines I've seen. :)
