He's 4 months old and so far we just keep calling him "stud colt". He's dark brown and white paint horse. I've looked and looked on Native American name websites and can't find anything I like. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't know if you have tried this site http://www.native-languages.org/names.htm. I hope this helps.

What about just the name of a tribe, like Arapaho or Cree?

This site has a list of tribes: http://www.greatdreams.com/native.htm ... it also has links to various Native American language sites that could be helpful.

Thanks for those sites. What do you think about the name Bailey? My dh says no b/c he says it's a girl name (I don't think it is strictly a girl name). I also like Chase. He wants to name him Cochees (sp?) and I just can't go for that. :)

I don't think Bailey is just for girls. I really like Chase, though.

Our neighbor had a male dog named Bailey. It took me forever to quit calling him a her! So, I understand your husband! However it IS for either, so I think it would be cute! I found this book on famous paint horses and it gives a list of the horses in the book. None of the names really jumped out at me, but I thought you might want to look. Naming pets is so fun!

I don't know if it would be too cliche, but Tonto's paint horse in the Lone Ranger was named Scout. Oooh, or you could name him Kemosabe! Maybe that's a bit over the top... :D Have fun and let us know what you decide!

are you going to breed him? My cousin breeds horses and I think their name always includes the parent's name or part of it or something, I am not sure about that though. Can you post a photo?
