I am supposed to talk on natural cleaning tommorow in MOPS. I have no idea how I got roped into doing this one. I have my reasons for using natural cleaning recipes--environmentally friendly, more natural. But I dont really know what most people use them for or why they are "better" than store bought products.

Anyone want to help me with information to include in my talk? I pretty much dont know what to say outside of giving recipes. For instance, why bleach alternatives (I read the other thread), why does vinegar work? How does lemon juice work? Etc, etc.

I would also include how much cheaper it is to make it yourself. I think that'll convince a lot of people :grin

You can also talk about the cost comparison. Green/homemade can be cheaper.

Look into statistics of poisoning kids with household chemicals. Even though we all know to keep our cleaners out of little ones' reach, there is something comforting in knowing that if my dd got into my cleaners, it would be baking soda and vinegar and not oven cleaner, drano, etc. If she decides to spray window cleaner into her mouth for any reason, mine is vinegar and water. I know we can say we watch our kids, but things can happen anyway.

Also, look at the statistics of cancer in housewives. It is significantly higher than in women who work outside the home. The theory is that it's because of cleaners.
