pattern/ideas for blanket, mittens, & hat needed

Truman will be one in December. We live in the South, where it only gets below freezing for a handful of days over the winter. I'm thinking a hat and mittens with a nice thick blanket will be good for getting him from/to the car/house. I have some soft baby blue fleece that I could use. For a blanket, I could line it with some cotton/flannel fabric (but I'd have to buy that). Any pattern ideas/advice?

Do you need to line it at all? Fleece is knit, so it really doesn't even need an edge!

But you could line it with flannel, and finish the edges with satin binding?
