:lol How funny!! What kind of turtles do you have and how long have you had them?

We just got ourselves a set of 4 red-eared sliders. They are so cute when they stack themselves. Of course, ours are only the size of 1/2 dollars right now. Hopefully it will be a while before they reach the top of our 55 gallon tank.

ours are also RES, we've had since july. one is 5", the other is about 4", got them at 1-1.5"
we wanna get 55g, but cost too much for now and our floor's just not trust worthy :chagrin:
they're gettin too heavy for their ock, lol! so we're gonna hafta get some stacking rocks son!

Tell me more about these turtles! Where do you get them, do they carry salmonella, etc. I've been wanting dd to have a pet turtle for a while now, but don't have a clue where to get them. :shrug Pet stores??

ETA:Never mind. I called around to some pet stores, and apparently it's illegal to sell turtles in NC. :( Oh well.

oh really? to sell turtles period? everywhere in the us it is illegal to sell under 4" (i didn't know till after we bought ours) because they do carry salmonella and they need to be bigger than to fit in a childs mouth as a safety precaution.

Yep, to sell them period. :( I think people get around that by selling you the tank, but *giving away* the turtle. ;) At least, that's what the guy at the pet store said.
