Scrapbooking Question

I've only scrapbooked a little with a friend, so I am very uneducated in this craft. But I keep seeing this term all over the place and I have no idea what it is.

Why is a scrapbooking party called "a crop"? It seems so weird to me...will someone explain?

Because a lot of "cropping" (cutting pictures down to a smaller size) happens at scrapbooking workshops.
