we shaved our dog

We shaved our dog. We did it ourselves. It is so hot now - actually it has been hotter the last few weeks than earlier in the summer and she keeps going swimming to cool off and she is resisting going outside, so we thought shaving her might help. Also, when it rains she gets very muddy and dirt sticks in her fur and she had lots of mats, so, we did it.

First we tried with a borrowed shaver from a friend that she uses on her dog, but it is just a people one and we got part way done and it was not making it, so I made a run to the pet store and bought a dog shaver. It was on sale, but still expensive, but they would charge $50 or more just to shave and bathe her one time, so it will pay for herself in less than two shavings. A friend of mine helped us - she has horses and is used to shaving them and she also used to help her mom shave the dog they used to have. It is not too difficult. Honey behaved very well while we did it - she is a sweet, good dog. :)

Awww....you call her honey? That's cute. My dog is Lady. She's a beagle/terrier mix.
