I want to get a sling for my sister. She is approximately soft-serve ice cream on the crunchy scale. I'm determined to do this, though. :O I'm not sure if I should:

a) Send her a rebozo and use the extra money to buy baby boy clothes.

Pros:
*I can get a nice rebozo here for about $12. :tu
*It's a "local" item, so it has less of a "Laura is a hippy nut" feel.

Cons:
*It takes some figuring out and thus would be less likely to actually be used.

b) Buy a more expensive sling or pouch.

Pros:
*Easier to use...more likely to be used.

Cons:
*Less money for other gifts
*More of a "Laura is a hippy nut" feel.
*I don't have any experience with other slings and would need specific suggestions on what to buy.

well, I love my unpadded ring slings. Why not buy a pair of slingrings and sew those onto a shortened rebozo? Then it has the local feel combined with an easier to use convenience :shrug

Get her a Hotsling! They come in awesome fabrics. I ALWAYS get compliments on mine and no one around here (Central KY) uses slings - not that I've seen anyway! They aren't that expensive (about $45) and they are easy to use.
