fyi- longies is a term for knitted wool pants that double as a diaper cover :grin

Just starting, cast on row and one k2 p2 row, my first knitting project is under way!

6 rows of k2 p2 later, half the waistband is done

The finished waistband, I can't believe it! All I did was follow the directions and it LOOKS like a waistband!! The holes are intentional and for a drawstring, so even if he potty learns over the winter his pants will still fit.

ETA: It's being knit "flat" on circular needles :lol Michael's only had one length of circulars and the newbie I am didn't realize they'd be too long for this project.

Knitting has been way easier than I thought it would be! All I've done is follow directions! :lol I read the pattern, go to stitchguide.com to see what the fuzzy the pattern said to do, and do it.

The waist isn't that small, it's about 18-19 inches unstretched, with lots of stretching room to get around Moose's 21 inch waist ;) Now I'm just doing a plain stitch til the rise is long enough, then I'll sew the seam up and start the legs.

Here's what it looked like last night, after day two on the needles.

That is so good. I've been trying to learn to knit. But, my projects just keep being given to Escher to undue. I can't keep everything straight.
