:hissyfit :hissyfit :hissyfit I snagged it on the car door one too many times I guess. :cry :cry :cry So I'm looking to make a new one. I need some instruction though. I am 5ft 10in how long should the fabric be? I have a 2yrd length and that just felt too short...it only hit my hip. I really don't want to go out and buy a bunch of fabric that I may or maynot use either...ya know? also how wide should the fabric be?

What kind of sling? Is it a ring sling?

Well I actually have a sling made from a bedsheet that has served me through 2 kids.

you can get at least one good sling from a twin sized sheet and it is cheaper. Go to Big Lots or a thrift store or your linen closet. I also like that it means the sling will be permanent press

Yes, mine take 2 1/2 yards too. Are you going to reuse the same rings?

Yeah I just cut off the fabric so I can reuse the rings...I just need to find some fabric

I would make it between 25 and 30 inches wide. Can you measure the width of your other one if you know that you like that width? Sorry about your sling.

I'm so sorry about your sling!! How awful! I am 5'8" and like my slings to be 2 1/4 yards long and 30" wide. I prefer this to 2 1/2 for me because it seems nice and long without getting in the way...or the oven if I am reaching in to take muffins out! :eek

Is your old sling entirely unfixable???? I make slings and sell them on my website. I always use 2 1/2 yards of fabric for a normal sling. You're a tad taller and seem to like a longer tail, so I might go with 2 3/4 for you. You can always trim the extra off.....hard to add more on and make it look right. Also...I alway use a width of 45...NO LESS than 40. You wanna have plenty of fabric to work with; especially when you are slingin' a toddler :) Good luck! Lemme know if I can help you with your old sling.
