any suggestions for hot-weather slings? I've got the mayawrap, which I love, but even that is a bit hot here in the summer when the temps get over 100. I've also got a mesh sling (solarveil) but neither dd nor I like the fabric; it's scratchy. :td Any other suggestions?

Wearing the solarveil in the pool made it nice and soft for me. :D I really love mine. :)

I made a wrap out of some really great crinkle gauze and then I saw a gal at the park who had made a sling out of the same material - do you sew? I could make you one (sling or wrap) if you'd like - pm me if you want!

Have you tried just washing it a few times? Are you allowed to dry it? I would think a few good wash and drys would help, though I don't own a solarveil, yet.

Soak it in the sink with a little vinegar. :) That should help soften it.
