So, after discovering with my nose that ds needs an escort every time he goes to pee, :lol I cleaned the downstairs bathroom toilet and all around the toilet on the floor. YUCK :sick I'm VERY largely pg, so I've not been keeping up with the wiping of the outside of the toilets, cause they are just so hard to get to, sheesh. Anyway, after getting it all cleaned up, I saw that the caulking around the bottom of the toilet is cracked, (actually it's been unsealed at the edges since we moved in and I told housing about it but they apparently didn't think they needed to fix it). Around the crack in the caulking I found last night, there is constantly seeping yellow water :sick2 Now, I am wondering how long it will take for maintenance to fix a problem like this. Does this mean there is a leak under the toilet? Will they have to remove the toilet and fix it? Like I said, I am large and pg, and do NOT want to run upstairs every 5 minutes to pee, and ds needs to be able to get to a toilet quickly too, as he waits till the last minute sometimes, kwim? And then after I have the baby, I'll be too sore to constantly climb the stairs to pee. <sigh>. So anyway, do you think I should suck it up and report it now, or wait till I've recovered from having the baby? :shrug Or, what would you do? TIA

I have no idea what to tell you about the toilet caulking, but I can commiserate with you on having to clean up stray pee. Eeew! I can't imagine if I were pg now too... Last week ds missed, and I had to clean the bathroom multiple times before totally get out the pee smell. One of the things, as the product of a family of girls, I never really anticipated in being a mother. :lol

There is someone else in charge of maintenance for your house? Am I understanding that correctly? If so, I'd call today. I'm sure you don't feel like dealing with it/them right now, but I imagine that you'll feel even less like dealing with it after your precious baby is born! :hug

Yes, we are in military housing, so we have maintenance service. I'll probably go ahead and call today, thankfully here we don't have to be home for them to come in and do work, so I don't have to plan to sit around all day when they are going to come. Thanks for the input.

In the meantime, I'd splurge on some premade cleaning wipes and maybe put some nice smelling eo in a spray bottle. Wipe and spray when you think of it.

Wow, how informative. :tu Well, I called yesterday, and a guy came out and took the cover off the bolt or whatever it is that holds the toilet on the floor, and then I had to close the bathroom door to keep ds out, lol. Well, he was only in there a few minutes so I don't know what he did, but he said it's fixed. I've been hurting too much since then to bend down and see if there's any more water near that crack. I'm thinking that in military housing they caulk around the toilet to keep water from getting underneatht the linoleum, does that make sense? This house is NEW, we are the first family to live here, but we've had a few mild earthquakes, do you think that could affect the wax ring? We now have a crack in the foundation of our garage from one end to the other, :eek after a mild quake a couple of months ago. Anyway, THANK YOU for the info!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I concur with Tessera's assessment about the wax ring. About a year ago, we started noticing gold liquid around the base of our toilet in the master bath. I kept thinking it was Lysol or pee, but I'd wipe it up and then find it again! It turned out to be the wax ring and DH just pulled the toilet up and replaced it (we used our Home Depot home fix-it book to guide us along). It's an easy and cheap fix and definitely needs to be addressed!
