My sweet Sally dog just died.

She was asleep right behind me, and she just died in her sleep. She had been ill for awhile, and we knew she was going to be leaving us soon, but we just didn't know it would be this soon. I am grateful that she went so peacefully. I didn't even hear her go. I was dreading having to make the choice to put her to sleep, and I'm glad I didn't have to.

I lifted her into her bed and wrapped her body in her favorite blanket and set her out on the back porch. It's hard, because Alexander doesn't understand why he can't play with her. I'm so glad they played together so well this afternoon.

We were lucky to have her as a friend and companion for eight years. She was my first baby, and I miss her so much already. Please say a prayer for our family

How nice you got to be with her! I've been around dogs all my life and it was so much easier to bury them and have a funeral then the times we had to take them to the vet. I haven't lost a dog as an adult yet. I'm going to be a wreck, I'm sure.
