Does anyone know of any natural supplements for general anxiety or OCD? I've noticed that they've both been creeping up on me a bit more, and I'd rather not go the traditional med route. I remember seeing something about oils helping?

Any advice would be appreciated!

I use flax oil, and a B-complex vitamin.

I talked to the herbalist at Wild Oats and did some more searches online and decided to try cod liver oil and a stress-relieving b-complex mix. I'll let you know how it works! I'm hoping that the cod liver oil will also help my migraines. That'd be nice!

Well, I took it last night, and had a HORRIBLE night. I was jittery, my heart felt like it was in a knot, and all of my muscles ached! It took about 12 hours for me to even be able to comfortable sit or walk around. I felt too bad to even talk on the phone, and that's BAD for me!
So, needless to say, I think I'll wait before trying it again! It had inositol (which is discussed in the depression forum) and siberian eluthero as well as the other complex . And I thought I was being safe by avoiding the kava!

do you think like with depression drugs that once you take it for while it will work better?

I've heard that, but if I have to feel like that first, then forget it! My OCD isn't that bad :P I'll just go back to counting off the stairs...

I know that I have to take my b-complex with food... :shrug

Yeah, I took it with a little bit of food. I also read that the siberian eluthero can make you jumpy, and the inositol can <ahem> mess up your bowel function, and both of those things happened to me. I think I may go buy *just* a B-complex and see if that works better. I'm pretty sure its the herbs that threw me into a tailspin. I am SUPER sensitive to drugs and herbs, so I should've taken a 1/2 dose. Even Tylenol PM makes me hallucinate and I can't move my limbs... I'd be a cheap date to get drunk, lol.

I experience both when I get gluten.

Hmm, I was actually considering cutting out gluten... Maybe I'll give it a try.

There is a big post in the depression forum that I got from MDC about different types of deperession and what has worked for different people...

Yeah, that was an awesome post! I don't think I'm depressed, but that thread still encouraged me to try the inositol. I think I'll try it again once I'm feeling brave :)
