cleaning gum off my van

when going to visit my parents a few weeks ago my ds got gum (bright red) all over the seats of our van. Is there any way to get it out?

Using an ice cube might work (at least it does for carpets). Hold the ice cube to the gum until it hardens and then gently scrape it off. Rubbing alcohol might work too.
