Alright, ladies, I need some help. I need to figure out a stash for a six week old that I'll be keeping until she's one. I'll have her from 8 to 5, and want to do laundry at least every other day, if not every day. I've never cded an infant, so I really have no clue. Once she's 20 lbs or so, I'll be okay, because I have stuff from dd who I started cding at 13 months. I'm trying to keep the costs kind of reasonable (around 150ish), because I'm paying, but I really don't want to go the prefolds and covers route, except as back up. Containment is pretty important, (though nearly impossible with a newborn, I imagine) and so is fitting under her clothes (her mama will be sposie-ing). TIA.

I love these diapers for the early stage and SUPER affordable 18 unbleached velcro snuggle ups and three covers will run you about $100 (and these will fit till she moves into what you have) These contain BF poo very well and they are also a trim fit. I liked using these with bummi pull on pants or bummi wraps (price with 3 bummi pull on will be about $90 with the wraps about $120 http://www.babybunz.com

http://www.thebabymarketplace.com/securestore/c26128p9711801.2.html At a little less than 4 bucks a diaper, this is the next cheapest option when it comes to diapers. These with a pull on cover, or even those Gerber velcro wraps (around 6 bucks each I think) and maybe some doublers for naps. They aren't super absorbant, but will be fine for everyday wear.

Thanks for the links, both of you. I didn't realize I could get fitteds so cheaply. :tu

What type diapers did you have/like for your child? On recommendation from a friend I noticed I could fit large fbs on my 16lb daughter. I would just use a smaller insert. Now I often use large fbs and the large inserts with my 6 month old and I am hoping they will fit her until she is 2 or so. I have not had any leaks. I would get what you like so you will have them to use with the next baby or get something with high resale value. Just a thought. If you have large fbs you could buy some smalls skip mediums and go right into larges without a problem. I think kindred spirit in this board http://www.slingsnlove.com/ who owns slingnlove has a good deal on a dozen fbs and you could use a few prefolds for backup.

I also just ordered some daisy doodles http://www.daisy-doodles.com/ which are supposed to be trim and absorbant. I'll let you know if I like them, they should get here today or tomorrow. They have very high resale value since she has a waiting list. They are also super cute. My babies would have been in mediums by 6-8 weeks and those would last you until the baby was 20lbs.

I really like the *idea* of FB, but my dd has such a little pot belly that they kind of ride low in the front. :( I was thinking about trying Happy Heineys with her. I reeeealy want to try some kissaluvs 0s for the new baby, and maybe some of the cuddlebunz like Milkmommy suggested, and then I wanted to switch to FB. I'm just so excited and fickle. :) Thanks for all the suggestions, ladies.
