So I want to make cloth diapers for my dd's dolls. She always wants to diaper them. I am a complete novice when it comes to sewing.

I'm imagining that I should just cut a piece of fabric in approx the shape of a contoured or fitted diaper? Then maybe put some velcro or something on it so that she can fasten it?

Does that sound good?

It sounds like it should be easy, but I'm clueless when it comes to sewing so I'm a little nervous.

What size doll? I have a pattern for the Newborn Jennifer doll which isn't available anymore. It includes several sizes. It's a simple fitted dipe. 2 layers, turned and stitched, elastic at legs and back waist, small velcro on tabs. I made them for my girls out of scrap flannel.

I made some for my DD out of gerber prefolds. I cut them down, sewed a pretty pink material on one side, and sewed snaps on them. Voila! It was SOOO easy and they came out really well!
