I get the big feelings a bit, but would like more explanation on how this works in a real life example.

Do you TELL you child he has big feelings? And if so when? :shrug

Hi Heather!

I usually talk about their big feelings when they are having them. Chanty (almost 5) talks about them in relation to animal sizes! So now I can ask her if her feelings are like and elephant or a sheep :D She also knows when they are getting smaller - eg, the elephant is a baby now.

When my little one melts down :hissyfit I will look calmly at them and just reflect, "you are having very big feelings." usually I get back, 'YES, I am!' :sa I might also let them know I'm getting frustrated by telling them, "I'm having very big feelings right now." :banghead
