2 summers ago, my neighbor had started too many tomato and pepper plants and given me his extras. Before I had time to look them over, one of my foster children pulled out all the labels. We took our chances and planted everything.
At the end of the summer, my then 6 yo, who loves to eat everything straight from the garden, decided to pick and eat some peppers. He tried to ask me first, but I was on the phone and didn't hear him, he thought I said "Yes" to him. Poor childs face turned bright red and his eyes watered for about 20 minutes!
We learned an important lesson, when cooling your mouth after peppers, drink MILK not water!
When I asked if he was OK, all he would say is
Mom, please don't ever plant "LAVA" peppers again! :eek
