foam mattress?

We have a foam mattress (similar to a Tempurpedic, but not that brand). Is it safe for co-sleeping? I've been unsure about it, so have been sleeping on the other bed (regular coil spring mattress) with T since his birth. He's 3 months now. He's pretty strong about holding his head up, but nowhere near rolling over. What do y'all thinki? Has anyone slept on a foam mattress with a newborn before?

Mara's crib/toddler bed mattress was/is foam. She has rarely ever slept there, but it's a super firm foam and never makes an indentation. I've decided I want foam for me--no more springs!!!!

I co-slept with ds on a tempurpedic mattress... but he was an older child, not a baby, and we have the "firm" version of the mattress.
