I have had an earache over the past 24 hours. Last night it was really bad. I couldn't sleep, until I got up in the middle of the night to take painkillers. It went away, and didn't come back until lunchtime. It is a brief, sharp pain that increases in frequency and intensity until it's hard to concentrate. :crazy (reminds me of labour except not so bad!).
Anyone know anything that might help?

A sock filled with dry rice. You can heat it in the microwave, this will help with the pain. HTH

If there's a lurgy in there, you can pierce a garlic oil capsule and drain it into your ear and then plug it with cotton wool. Garlic oil is antimicrobial. (sp?) It's a bit stinky though.. :smile

I've heard olive oil helps ease the pain (though I've never tried it myself).
I've used hydogen perioxide in my ear to help combat an ear infection... I think cobluegirl suggested it.... and it worked very well.
HTH. Ear aches can be very annoying :hug

My ear feels okay now, but the pain (same sort of pain) has moved to the top of my head! Very weird. The heat worked really well, thanks Lyssa!

((((HUGS)))) I'm sorry you are still in pain... could it possibly be a migrane?
I hope you feel better soon!
