Anybody have any ideas or recipes for soy-free fried rice? What could I use in place of the soy sauce? It's salty, but it's also got a fermented flavor...hmmm... TIA!

I really hope someone has some ideas....I can't use soy sauce in anything b/c it gives DH migraines, and I'd really love to be able to cook Chinese food (esp. since I'm craving it so much with this pregnancy!).

Well, I haven't really found an soy substitutes, but we use things like fish sauce (occasionally), mustard powder, ginger, crushed red pepper, garlic, sesame seeds and toasted sesame oil, rice vinegar, etc. I've heard that a bit of balsamic vinegar can be used in making an Asian sauce, but I haven't really made any Asian sauces. You could do a sweet and sour or peanut sauce soy-free. Horseradish can also be good in Asian food. Just some ideas! :)
