I'm slowly building up my collection of Essential Oils.

Which ones do you consider to be essential to have on hand? Why?

Lavendar oil because it is so soothing and calming. I love putting a few drops in my dd's bath to help her relax and chill out at night. Tea tree oil because I love cleaning with it.

Ohhhhh! I :heart essential oils. :P I love wearing German Chamomile, Roman Chamomile, Patchouli or Lavender. All of those I would consider essential to have on hand but i would also add Tea Tree oil, grapefruit, grapefruit seed and Eucalyptus. Those are the ones I would use the most, but I know there are so many other yummy ones. :)

I use mine mostly for putting in my homemade cleaners. My faves to have around are:

Sweet orange
Lemon
Lavender
Tea Tree (although I'm allergic and break out in an itchy rash when I touch it :P)
Peppermint

I found this from an aromatherapy site. *blush* Can't remember which one. But I've been using this for the past few months and found it to be very helpful!

Menstrual Massage Mix
Aromatherapy Blend

Ingredients:

• 1 ounce carrier oil such as sweet almond
• 15 drops Peppermint
• 10 drops Cypress
• 5 drops Lavender

Directions: Mix oils well in a clean, dark-colored glass container. Gently message a small amount into the abdominal area.

Note: I'm not sure whether I used cypress or something simliar--my EOs are labelled in Russian, and some of them translate a little differently. If it wasn't cyprus, it may have been pine or cedar. Still helped!

tea tree - for disinfecting power
lavendar - for relaxation
peppermint - at my desk to sniff for rejuvenation & concentration when i'm working
eucalyptus - i mix it into baking soda, then sprinkle it on the carpet before i vacuum, which neutralizes any odors

I use tea tree when cleaning the bathroom (a couple drops in bucket of water with white vinegar and baking soda). It naturally gets rid of bacteria and smells good.

Lemon and Orange oils I like for when I'm mopping the kitchen floor (same thing as above in bucket).

lavendar I sometimes use that in the bathroom along with the tea tree one. :)
