All scripture is from the NKJV.
The following treatise on doula support (birth assistant) was written by Barbara.
The main verse that I use to support the help of a doula is:
Two are better than one; because they have a good return for their labour. For if they fall,
one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he had no
one to help him up. Again, if two lie down together, they will keep warm; but how will
one be warm alone? Though one may be overpowered by another, two can withstand him. And
a threefold cord cannot be broken.
We (all) are admonished to love the brethren and be encouragers to each other in the body:
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore, comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.
"If I, then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one
another's feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you."
(the word doula means....servant, an unpopular thought today, but that's its meaning!)
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Blessed by the God and Father of our Lord Jesus the Messiah, the Father of mercies and God
of all comfort, who comforts us in all our tribulations, that we may be able to
comfort those who are in any trouble, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted
I would also direct thought to 1 Corinthians 12...on spiritual gifts. I view my work as a
doula as a calling. . . He has given me ability to support women in labor. I tend to view
this as a gift (similar to midwives, physicians). . . that He meant to be used to help
others in the body of Messiah. My ability is nothing that I ever achieved on my own,
and certainly never sought.
God's Blessings for His People
Deuteronomy 7:12, 13
-12- "Then it shall come to pass, because you listen to these judgments, and keep and do
them, that the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the mercy which
He swore to your fathers.
-13- "And He will love you and bless you and multiply you; He will also bless the fruit
of your womb and the fruit of your land, your grain and your new wine and your oil, the
increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flock, in the land of which He swore
to your fathers to give you.
1 Timothy 2:15
-15- Nevertheless she will be saved in childbearing if they continue in faith, love,
and holiness, with self-control.
-3- Behold, children [are] a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb [is] a reward.
-4- Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, So [are] the children of one's youth.
-5- Happy [is] the man who has his quiver full of them; They shall not be ashamed, But shall speak with their enemies in the gate.
-2- Thus says the LORD who made you And formed you from the womb, [who] will help you: 'Fear not, O Jacob My servant; And you, Jeshurun, whom I have chosen.
-3- For I will pour water on him who is thirsty, And floods on the dry ground; I will pour My Spirit on your descendants, And My blessing on your offspring;
-25- By the God of your father who will help you, And by the Almighty who will bless you [With] blessings of heaven above, Blessings of the deep that lies beneath, Blessings of the breasts and of the womb.
Verses for Pregnancy
God's hand is on the unborn child.
-15- "For he will be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong
drink. He will also be filled with the Holy Spirit, even from his mother's womb.

I like this?" So she went to inquire of the LORD.
-23- And the LORD said to her: "Two nations are in your womb, Two peoples shall
be separated from your body; One people shall be stronger than the other, And the older
shall serve the younger."
-2- Thus says the LORD who made you And formed you from the womb. . .
-5- As you do not know what is the way of the wind, Or how the bones grow in the womb of
her who is with child, So you do not know the works of God who makes everything.
-13- For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother's womb.
-14- I will praise You, for I am fearfully [and] wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works,
And [that] my soul knows very well.
-15- My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, [And] skillfully wrought in
the lowest parts of the earth.
-16- Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written,
The days fashioned for me, When [as yet there were] none of them.
Verses for Birth
For every thing there is a God-appointed time.
-1- To everything [there is] a season, A time for every purpose under heaven:
-2- A time to be born, And a time to die; A time to plant, And a time to pluck [what is]

I who cause delivery shut up the womb?" says your God.
-57- Now Elizabeth's full time came for her to be delivered, and she brought forth a son.
-6- So it was, that while they were there, the days were completed for her to be delivered.

laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

-3- "Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, And all the remnant of the house of Israel, Who have
been upheld [by Me] from birth, Who have been carried from the womb:
-4- "Even to [your] old age, I [am] He, And [even] to gray hairs I will carry [you!] I have made,
and I will bear; Even I will carry, and will deliver [you.]
-5- "To whom will you liken Me, and make [Me] equal And compare Me, that we should be alike?
